There are a lot of different types and prices of buses going to Koh Chang from Suvarnabhumi International Airport or from Bangkok downtown. It takes from 4 to 6 hours to reach one of the three ferry piers (Ao Thammachart, Center Point and Laem Ngob). Luckily most of buses have air-conditioning but does it work all the time, it's a different story.
It costs about 300 THB per person and per way from Ekkamai or Morchit bus terminals in Bangkok to one of the ferry piers. Depending of the bus companies, they leave from 06.00 AM to 11.30 PM form the station in Bangkok and from 07.00 AM to 11.30 PM from the ferry piers. Some of them also stop at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
When the bus arrives to the pier, you are on your own. You take and carry your luggage, buy your ticket and walk to the ferry.

Once you arrive in Koh Chang, you can take a taxi which will drive you to your final destination. It will be full loaded but don't worry, most of the time it succeeds to drive on the narrow roads and crawl on top of the steep hills which by the way are common in the island. Anyway it can be an adventurous way to start your holidays.
If you want to travel inexpensively but comfortably we recommend a VIP airport bus. You can rest and explore Thailand from spacious and air-conditioned first class seats. What is the best, when you arrive to the pier you can continue to relax, it is the only bus which will bring you actually to the island itself. It leaves you to Klong Son area from where you can continue by taxi to your resort.
