If you are a bit tired of Asian food and would like to change to something more European, then I recommend you Chez David.
Chez David is located in Kai Bae, on the mountain side, between 7/11 and the exchange office of the Bank of Ayudhya.
If you come from White Sand beach, it will be on your left side at the entrance of Kai Bae village. If you come from Lonely beach, it will be on your right before leaving Kai Bae village. It's opened daily from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm (closed one Wednesday every 2 weeks) and closed every Wednesday during the "low" season, from April to November.
David, the owner, and his staff are very friendly and they propose all kind of delicious European products, from Belgian beers to French cheeses as well as sandwiches, breakfast, lunch, dinner and take-away. You can enjoy them outside on their terrace or inside in the clean and quiet a/c room.
Chez David is not a "simple" restaurant, it's a mixture between a coffee-shop, a delicatessen, a snack bar, a restaurant and a pub.
They propose a large selection of high quality dry and smoked meats, hard and soft cheeses, beers and wines which are all mostly imported from France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. And most of them have a controlled or protected appellation of origin (aoc/aop).
I'm a big fan of their products, all of them! That's the reason why I really recommend you to stop-by if you are in Kai Bae.
The French breakfast with fresh croissants and café au lait is so good and the Quiche Lorraine with the fresh salad is just fantastic.
The sandwiches are also excellent, I could describe them all one by one but it will spoil the surprise. If you want to know how they taste, you don't have a lot of choice, grab a taxi and ask him to bring you to Chez David ;)
I was writing about the sandwiches but they also have salads which will go very well with their tasty beers.
And for the lunch or dinner, why not a "Moules Frites" (famous Belgian mussels and fries) or a Tartiflette Savoyarde (Reblochon cheese, smoked bacon, white wine and potatoes)?
To make you a bit more hungry I will end this review with the Penne Bolognese and the Deli plate :)
And if you are not in Koh Chang right now and cannot taste those delicious food, you can still enjoy them with your eyes:
