Koh Chang is not only a place to relax and take sunbath, you can also practice different sports.
The most common and the cheapest are walking and jogging on the beach. White Sand beach and Klong Prao beach are the best places for these activities like they are the longest sandy beaches of the island. Prefer to do it in the morning or in the evening at sunset for example, it won't be so hot.
Swimming is also another sport which can be practiced for free. Be aware of rip currents or jelly fishes if you do it in the sea. Depending of the season, currents can be strong and there can be jelly fishes. Observe and ask first and if you have any fear or doubt, there are a lot of safe swimming pools.
It's all the time possible to play football, cricket, volleyball, pétanque, or any other beach sport. You will have more place during the low tide and like jogging, at the end of the afternoon the weather will be more comfortable.
There are different places where you can rent bicycles and spend a day away from the main busy roads. Some of them even propose you a guide, what is even better if you want to discover different places..
If you prefer motor sports, there are few places which are renting ATV. Like the bicycle tours, you can also get a guide and ride an ATV though a muddy path in the forest.
If you like sailing or want to try, you can rent a hobie cat at Koh Chang Sailing located on the south part of Klong Prao beach at Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort.They also propose courses.
Almost every resort has kayaks which can be borrowed or rented. This is a good exercise but also a good opportunity to discover the surroundings. Remember that it can be very hot and your skin can burn easily. Don't forget to protect it against the sun and take drinks with you.
If you want to keep your good shape or workout, there are 3 gyms in the island, one in Klong Prao, one in Kai Bae and one in Lonely beach. I recommend you Koh Chang Gym which is located on the main road, north of Klong Prao, opposite side of Klong Prao Resort. They have lots of equipment and sell different protein or energy drinks. You can buy daily entries or get a membership card for the period you want.
